It’s not really about tools.
our motto: The tool exists to make the product. The product exists to make a difference.
You might arrive here looking for Bash, awk, Markdown, Perl, Quarto, or another piece of the Unix toolbox.
Those are importantβbut they are not the destination.
The real subject of this site is learning to see text as something that can be reasoned about, transformed, and composed.
Every shell script, every markup language, every configuration file, every pipeline, and every document is another opportunity to think more clearly about information and to shape it with simple, durable tools.
- Editors are not the goal; writing is.
- Markdown is not the goal; communication is.
- Git is not the goal; reproducibility is.
- Shell scripting is not the goal; automation is.
- Programming is not the goal; solving problems is.
- Spreadsheets are not the goal; analysing data is.
That is what it means to think like a textsmith.
